On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, we received numerous phone calls (and emails) from clients who are patients of Hackensack Meridian Health System in NJ.
These clients received an email from Hackensack Meridian that indicated they may be losing access to their Providers with Hackensack Meridian.
This email explains the ongoing contract negotiations with Aetna Medicare Advantage Plans which could impact policyholders of the Aetna Medicare Advantage Plans.
However, this email was sent to patients who have NEVER had a Medicare Advantage Plan and thus would not be impacted by these contract negotiations. Some of the patients that received the email have Aetna Medicare Supplements, and some have a Medicare Supplement with a different carrier.
If you have a Medicare Supplement with Aetna (or any Carrier), you can see ANY Hospital/Provider in the country that accepts Medicare; regardless of their contracts with the insurance company (e.g. Aetna).
